Blog #10
As a second-grade
math teacher, I look forward to incorporating surveys to enhance the learning
experience for my students. Surveys will be valuable tools to assess their
prior knowledge of mathematical concepts, understand their interests, and
identify their preferred learning styles. Utilizing this information, I can
tailor my math lessons to align with their interests and cater to their
individual learning needs. For instance, before going into a unit on addition
and subtraction, I can use surveys to discover which math activities or
problem-solving approaches they find most enjoyable. This personalized approach
aims to make math lessons more engaging and relevant for second-grade students,
cultivating curiosity and interest in the subject.
Upon reviewing my classmates'
blogs, the most interesting aspect of the blogs was the enthusiasm for the web
design assignment showcasing their creativity and recognizing the practical
utility of these skills for future educational settings. The reflection on
Diigo revealed initial confusion but highlighted its benefits for collaborative
annotation and information sharing within interest groups, particularly for
educators. Notably, the mention of TikTok as a tool for teachers to stay
updated on educational trends and share teaching practices indicates a
recognition of the evolving role of social media in education. The blogs collectively
underscore the importance of teachers staying up to date on current
technological advancements and engaging in professional development to adapt to
these changes. Overall, the insights provided a diverse perspective on the
impact and potential benefits of technology in the classroom.
In terms of tech skills, I'm interested in learning how
to create educational animations to make complex ideas simpler for elementary
students in various subjects. Animation can turn tricky concepts into engaging
visuals, helping students understand better. To reach this goal I could explore
user-friendly animation tools available online and take advantage of their
tutorials. This approach would allow me to gradually build my animation skills
at my own pace. By incorporating animated content into my lessons, I aim to
create a visually appealing and interactive learning experience for my elementary
school class.
